During
the days of good light of the late summer in 1978 up to
spring 1979, my brother Carl (Some of the pictures go
on his account) and I visited the building site of the
New clinic to Seffent near Aachen. We knew the hidden
entrances, by-passed the guards and spent many hours first
on its roof, and then in the inner maze of the colossus.
A friend and study companion (Gernot Schäfer) had
lend us his miniature camera and two changeable lenses,
so we began to expose several slides and B/W-films. We
discovered what should later become our the professional
routine: the conversion of surfaces (environment) in appearances,
of appearances into pictures, of pictures into media.
Only a single picture of the collection, a medium long
shot in black-and-white, was published in 1981 in a special
edition of the STADTBAUWELT (Deserts (Wüsten), ed.
Ulrich Conrad). The other photographs have found some
private lovers. The colour collection, consisting of 30
motives, is autographed as a file, hand-made and available
in the format 24x30 cm. Registration necessary. Price
on inquiry. |
