The
video Reanimation is my first film. It is strongly
influenced by the give-and-take between photography and video,
i.e. chemistry and electronics. The film is composed of approximately
200 black and white photographs that I took in 1983, shooting
directly from the televisoin screen, over a period of roughly
six months.
The programs in question were entirely heterogeneous in
nature, and I consciously made use of the atmospheric disturbances
caused by the antenna reception for aestetic effects.
In the process of sorting the pictures for the video filming,
I developed such an intense bond to the music of Bomis Prendin
that the scheme for the five sequences (the first of them
is silent) came almost of its own accord.
I was able to execute my idea for achieving a purely graphic
and aesthetic animation of the photographic stills
by means of cuts and clips over a period of several weeks
at a basic Low-Band editing table during my first year at
the film academy in Berlin.
