The
original plan: I wanted to explore the question of what makes
a European a real citizen of Europe in 1990, two
years before the threathened surge of integration that, as
was to be expected years ago, would be accompanied by new
wars and migrations.
I concentrated on Carolingian Europe, the former
core countries of the EEC so as, with the help of spontaneous
impressions, to gain some certainty over the question of whether
there is any such thing as a preceptible common ground among
Europeans.
This resulted in a many-levelled expedition through both the
more superficial characteristics and the deeper self-understanding
of the Brussels nations.
